All-Natural, Homemade Air Freshener

As a result of everyday activities; your home, car, or office can begin to smell less than fresh sometimes. One of the best ways to eliminate any odors is the quick use of a spray. Artificially scented air fresheners are not the safest solution for this because of the toxins used to mask smell. This is one of the reasons why I started to make my own deodorizers with all-natural ingredients.

Below is a list of materials to make a spray for any space. I have also included the oil blends I recommend that are both cleansing and fragrant. Inhaling essential oils can result in a more positive mood and mindset.

You Will Need:

  • 8-ounce spray bottle
  • 1 cup of distilled water
  • 2 tablespoons witch hazel (I use Thayer’s)
  • 15 drops of your chosen essential oils
  • OPTIONAL: basil leaves, rosemary sprigs, cinnamon sticks, orange peels, etc.

Suggested Blends:

  • lemon – basil
  • grapefruit – chamomile – cedarwood
  • orange – peppermint
  • rose – vanilla – lime
  • lavender – lemon – rosemary

Mix the ingredients listed above into the spray bottle and shake well. Choose which blends you prefer and get creative with the optional add-ons. The oils I selected are mainly citrus or earth scents because of the invigorating and antibacterial properties.

This easy-to-make air freshener is a great addition to your cleaning tools. It is harmless, organic, and will have any space smelling naturally fresh in no-time.
