The French 75 is a light & refreshing cocktail, perfect for Spring. I believe it can best be enjoyed on your porch before dinner.

I decided to put my own little twist on the original recipe by adding a simple syrup infused with one of my favorite garden herbs: rosemary. I also poured in some ginger beer for an extra kick.

Trust me when I say that you won’t want to miss out on making this easy, delicious drink. So now it’s time to whip one up, go outside, and enjoy the bubbly!

You Will Need:

  • 2 ounces dry gin
  • ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 2 ounces champagne
  • Splash of ginger beer
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of sugar (or 2/3 cup of honey)
  • 4 sprigs of garden rosemary
  • Garnish with a long spiral lemon twist and a rosemary sprig

rosemary- simple syrup: Combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar (or 2/3 cup honey), and 4 sprigs rosemary in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let syrup steep, about 30 minutes. Pour syrup into a jar through a mesh strainer to remove rosemary leaves; let cool.*syrup can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to two weeks.*

TO MAKE: Combine gin, rosemary – simple syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into an iced champagne glass. Top with champagne and a splash of ginger beer. Stir gently. Garnish with lemon twist and fresh sprig of rosemary.
