Cruelty-Free Beauty and Cleaning Products Guide

Whether you are an animal-lover or you just want to be more environmentally-friendly, you are in luck because the options for cruelty-free brands have increased significantly in the last couple of years!

I recently decided to make the transition to only buying cruelty-free. It definitely takes research and I will admit that it can be harder to find certain products now. However, the upside is that most humane products are also organic and/or vegan! So I can now confidently say that my beauty and cleaning routines have the moral high-ground.

In order to motivate others to make the switch, I decided to give you all a head-start by providing a list of links to my favorite cruelty-free products. These are all brands that I have used and approve the quality of.

Thayer’s Rose Petal Toner – this product is great for any skin type, especially those (me) with sensitive skin. The formula is alcohol-free so it doesn’t cause over-drying. Also, the aloe vera, rose water and witch hazel work together to tighten pores and give your face a dewy glow.

Aztec Clay Face Mask – the “secret” clay mask that worked magic on my skin! With over 17,000 reviews on Amazon and a high approval rating, this is a must-have in your skincare routine. Combined with apple cider vinegar, the calcium bentonite clay draws out all of the impurities deep in your pores, improving overall clarity and texture.

French Girl Lumière Body Oil – only a few drops of this will make you feel like you are glowing all day long! The key ingredients- argan oil, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil and rosehip oil– are all beneficial to skin health and hydration.

Calily Life Eye Cream – the hyaluronic acid in this cream is known for reducing fine lines and puffiness under your eyes. It has worked wonders on the bags under my eyes after a long night. The antioxidants and extracts in the formula will also strengthen and deeply hydrate your skin.

Alba Botanica Shampoo & Conditioner – the products created by this company are always fantastic! They smell great, and are created in a humane and organic way. The “body building” mango shampoo and “colorific” plumeria conditioner give my hair much needed volume, nourishment and a color boost.

Schmidt’s Deodorant – these deodorants have award-winning formulas that are aluminum-free and don’t contain any artificial ingredients. It took me a couple of days to get used to the texture but I love the naturally fresh fragrances (ylang-ylang + calendula is my favorite!)

Plantlife Bar Soap – buying bar soap instead of body wash in a bottle helps reduce plastic waste. These soaps are made with a cold-pressing method which means no chemicals or synthetics are added during the process. Since I starting using them, my skin is always moisturized and soft.

Good Chemistry– a fragrance collection recently released by Target. My favorite aspect is that this brand has four different “personalities” with accompanying scents and packaging for each. The products are made with essential oils and come in body sprays, rollerballs and perfumes.

Sachajuan Ocean Mist Spray – I use a couple of spritzes of this to give my hair a thicker wave and more bounce. It is very lightweight and doesn’t give your hair that “stiff” feeling like most hairsprays.

Glossier’s Boy Brow – this is definitely worth the hype. The wand shapes and thickens your brows with just a few short swipes. It has a very natural look while also helping you maintain a groomed appearance.

Pacifica Tinted Lip Tint – an ultra -moisturizing lip balm with avocado and coconut oils. You can look chic while keeping your lips nourished and the best part is, it comes in 5 different color options!

Household Cleaners

Castile Soap – this is my most useful sanitation product at home because it is incredibly efficient and all-natural. It can be used as an ingredient in almost any DIY cleaning recipe: deodorant, dish soap, detergent, shaving, makeup brush cleaner and so much more!

Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap  a biodegradable formula with plant-based ingredients. Each of the 11 fragrances smells fresh and the soap itself is not harsh on skin but still cuts through heavy grease.

Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent – fights tough stains and brightens clothing with no added fragrances, parabens, dyes or phthalates. Great for those with sensitive skin.
