DIY Multi-Purpose Cleaner

Your skin is the largest organ in your body and it absorbs almost everything that it comes in contact with. That’s why cleaning with name brand cleaning products can be considered harmful. Although these products can be effective, the chemical ingredients in them can cause severe dryness and cracking to your hands and nails.

While most people use gloves to avoid the negative effects on their skin, I prefer to use essential oils in a quick and easy to make multi-surface spray.

This DIY spray is an all-natural and anti-bacterial alternative to store-bought cleaners. It is also cost effective: once you have bought the ingredients, you can replenish your spray multiple times before you need to run to the store again. Another benefit is that you will be cutting down on your plastic waste by using a reusable bottle for your cleaning supply.

Mix the following in a spray bottle:

1 cup of water

¾ cup of white vinegar

10 drops tea tree oil

7-10 drops lemon essential oil*

*if you aren’t a fan of the smell of lemon you can use essential oils such as rosemary, pine or eucalyptus

This spray emits a subtle yet fresh smell and leaves any surface shining. It is amazing how a simple, environmentally-friendly recipe can work so efficiently.

Now is the time to get rid of your chemical-filled cleaners and start a natural collection of your own!
